Fibers obtained from the stalks of the Abaca or Mailla hemp plant are being processed to make ropes, fabric and paper. Abaca rope is often woven on a frame. Colors can vary from blue and grey to yellow and brown.

Fiber made from the Indonesian Gebang palm. The Agel rope is strong and scentless. The natural color of the material is soft green.

Some of the fastest-growing plants in the world. Bamboos are of great economic and cultural significance in Asia. The raw material is used in countless ways. It has a long history of use in Asian furniture and decoration. Bamboo is, unlike rattan, hollow.

The European beechwood is a utility timber that is though and widely used for furniture framing.

Buff willow is boiled willow that is stripped of it's bark, leaving a buff (orange brown) colour. Typical products are bicycle baskets, classic woodlog baskets, and grocery baskets.

Canvas is a heavy, coarse, closely woven fabric of cotton, hemp or flax, often used to make tents or sails.

The fibers and leaflets of the African Doum palm (or gingerbread tree) are used to weave sturdy and strong shoppingbags, baskets and carpets.

Used paper is cut in pieces from 1,5 cm by 25 cm. Strong ropes are created by twisting the paper tranches between 2 fingers. These paper ropes are used to tie various objects.

The baskets woven in recycled plastic are a mix of Sisal and recycled plastic.

Grey rattan peel is the bark of grey rattan sticks. The material is woven on wooden frames. The surface of this weaving is more flat than when using full rattan sticks.

A liana is any of various long-stemmed, woody vines. Liana branches are used to twine baskets.

Lloyd Loom weave is made from twisted paper and wire and the frames are traditionally made from steam-bent beech wood. The furniture is renowned for its longevity and durability. Inferior models imported from the Far East, still widely available, have neither the strength nor the longevity of real British Lloyd Loom.

Maize, or corn, is a large grain plant from the Americas. The leaves are, among other things, used to braid baskets and bags.

Weaving of palm leaf is a handicraft found in many parts of the world. Different types of palm leaves are being used to make baskets, hats, carpets, rope, bags,…The original green color will fade when dried and exposed to (sun)light.

Young leaves from the pandanus palmtree are sliced and sorted for further processing. Weavers produce mats or roll the leaves into pandan ropes. The mats and ropes are used to make placemats, baskets, bags,… Pandan is a strong , flexible and scentless material. The natural color is lightgreen.

Wicker is made from rattan. Big rattan sticks are peeled and mechanically split into long branches. Wicker is light yet sturdy, has a uniform shape and is easy to color which makes it highly suitable for fabrication of indoor furniture.

Pulut is the collective term for young unpeeled rattan branches. The peel gives the pulut material a natural protection which makes them suitable for both out and indoor use. The typical color varations give pulut items their natural charm.

Raffia fibers, from raffia palms, native to tropical regions, have many uses, especially in textiles and construction. In their local environments they are used for ropes, sticks, roof coverings,.. In Madagascar they specialize in the production of multicolored raffia items such as bags, baskets , placemats,...

Rattan is the generic name for roughly 600 spieces of vine like tropical plants. Unlike bamboo rattan stems are solid. Rattans have been known to grow up to hondreds of metres long.The various spieces of rattan range from several millimetres up to 10 diameter. The Manille and Malacca are being used as frames for furniture. Big and solid woodlog baskets are made from CL rattan. The smaller branches are used for basket weaving. Rattan weaving material or wicker is made from peeled rattan stands. The remaining core is recuperated to weave, amongst other things, seats.

Sisal is the rope made from the leaves of the agava sisalana. The stiff and strong fibre is traditionally used in making rope, carpets and even dartboards. Sisal baskets often have a rigid shape and can be mutlicolored. They are decorative and durable.

Unpealed slim rattan branches are dipped in pools for a few weeks. The sun and the water give Slimit it's soft beige-grey color.

Straw is the dried stalks of cereal crops such as barley, oats, rice, rye and wheat. Bee skeps, tatamis, brooms, linen baskets,... are made from lenghts of straw that are coiled and bound together.

Teak is a tropical hardwood tree spieces. Teak timber is particulary valued for its durability and water resistance.

Rope is a collection of plies, yarns or stands wich are twisted or braided together in order to combine them in a stronger form. Rope is traditionally made from natural materials such as hemp or flax.

The abundant Veta vera grass is used to weave strong and practical baskets. The round shapped bright colored shopping bags are the most typical example of Ghanaian basketry.

Felt is one of the first textiles created by man. Felt is light but strong, friendly to color, water and temperature resistant but even more important durable. It's a warm material that can be used in many ways.
